- Authentication information and account identifiers used to manage your account, including when signing in with Google through Firebase Authentication
If you enable notifications, Mada Alalam uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and may process a device notification token and device platform information to deliver notifications to your device.
When you use personalized features, the application may store your selected interests, followed sports teams, and article reactions such as likes or dislikes in connection with your account.
When you use the weather feature, the application may request access to your approximate device location to provide weather information relevant to your location.
Some guest favorites and certain notification-related data may be stored locally on your device.
3. Password Security
Your password is not stored as plain text. Passwords are securely hashed before being stored in our database.
You should never share your account password with another person.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate your account, including Google sign-in through Firebase Authentication
- Provide personalized features based on your selected interests and preferences
- Save and manage your favorite articles
- Manage followed news sources and sports teams
- Record article reactions such as likes or dislikes

5. Notifications and Location
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver news notifications to your device. A device notification token may be sent to our server together with device platform information for this purpose.
When you use the weather feature, we may use your approximate location to provide weather information relevant to your location. You can control notification and location permissions through your device settings.
6. News Content
Mada Alalam aggregates news information from third-party news sources and RSS feeds.
News articles, images, trademarks, logos, and other third-party content may belong to their respective owners.
Where available, Mada Alalam provides a link to the original article so that users can access the original publisher's website.
7. Third-Party Services
Mada Alalam uses third-party services to provide certain features, including Firebase Authentication for account authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, and services used to provide weather information.
The application may also display news content, links, and YouTube content provided by third parties.
When you access third-party websites, content, or services through Mada Alalam, those services may have their own privacy policies and terms of service. Mada Alalam does not control the privacy practices of third-party services.
8. Account Data
You can update certain account information through your account settings.
You can also request deletion of your account through the account deletion feature provided by the application.
You may also request account deletion through our official website if you cannot access your account through the application.
When an account is deleted, associated account data is removed from our application database, subject to any technical, legal, security, or other legitimate requirements that may require limited retention.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no internet service can guarantee complete security of information transmitted or stored online.

Mada Alalam is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Riwaq PDF — App-Specific Privacy Policy

This section applies specifically to Riwaq PDF (Android), package name com.riwaq.riwaq_pdf. The sections above describe Mada Alalam's news and website services. Features described there, such as news personalization, weather, and news notifications, should not be understood as features of Riwaq PDF merely because both services share this privacy-policy page.
13.1. Documents and On-Device Processing
Riwaq PDF is designed to open, create, scan, convert, edit, organize, and analyze documents on your Android device. PDF processing and OCR (including supported Arabic and English text recognition) are performed locally. Document contents, scanned pages, and extracted OCR text are not uploaded to our servers as part of normal document processing.
The app may keep locally stored files, temporary working copies, thumbnails, recent-file references, preferences, and editing drafts as needed for the features you use. If you choose to share, export, or print a document, the destination app, printer, or service you select may receive that document at your direction.
13.2. Camera, Photos, and File Access
The document scanner uses the camera when you choose to scan. Riwaq PDF may also request access to photos or documents that you select or authorize through Android's file and photo selection interfaces. These permissions are used for scanning, importing, processing, saving, and sharing files. You can manage applicable permissions in Android settings.
13.3. Advertising and Consent
The free version of Riwaq PDF may show advertisements delivered by Google AdMob. Depending on your device, region, consent choices, and applicable settings, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device and app information, ad interactions, and diagnostic data for ad delivery, measurement, security, and, where permitted, personalization. Consent options may be presented through Google's consent-management tools where required.
A qualifying active Premium subscription is intended to remove ads within Riwaq PDF. You can review Google's data practices in its Privacy Policy and advertising information.
13.4. Premium Subscriptions and Purchases
If you choose a Premium subscription, purchases and payments are handled by Google Play. We do not receive your complete payment-card details from Google Play. To verify a purchase and manage Premium access, the app and our subscription verification service may process purchase tokens, subscription product identifiers, transaction status, the application package identifier, and an account or entitlement identifier where applicable. Purchase status may also be temporarily stored on your device.
Subscription availability and verification depend on the Google Play and app-backend integration enabled for your version of Riwaq PDF. Google Play handles payment processing under its own policies.
13.5. Other Services and Network Access
Core document-processing tools are designed for offline use. An internet connection may be used for advertising, consent management, Google Play billing, and subscription validation. Third-party SDKs may process limited technical or diagnostic information in accordance with their own privacy practices. These connections are separate from the local processing of your document contents.
13.6. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
You can delete documents and drafts that you no longer need. Files saved in locations you choose, including shared device storage, may remain there after uninstalling Riwaq PDF until you delete them. App-private local data is generally managed by Android when the app is uninstalled. Purchase-verification records, if processed by our service, may be retained as necessary to maintain entitlements, resolve disputes, prevent misuse, or meet legal obligations.
13.7. Your Choices and Privacy Requests
You control which documents you select, scan, export, or share. You can change device permissions through Android settings and manage available ad-privacy options through the controls presented to you and your device settings. You can contact us to ask questions about personal information associated with subscription verification, request access or deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern. Some records may need to be retained for legitimate or legal reasons.
13.8. Security and Children's Privacy
We aim to protect information processed by Riwaq PDF using reasonable safeguards. No software or storage system is entirely free from risk. Riwaq PDF is a general-purpose document utility; if you believe a child's personal information has been collected improperly in connection with the app, please contact us.
